PRIMARY LANGUAGE ADVISOR

The Language Advisor will work with school staff in redesigning
curriculum access for students with ASD, and/ or Semantic Pragmatic
Difficulties. The advisor will work in conjunction with the community SLT team, who will refer the students to the Service based on individual
need (referrals for Language Advisory Intervention will only be
accessed via the therapists in the community team).

Role:
In collaboration with the Wandsworth NHS Speech and Language Therapy Service, the Language Advisor roles and responsibilities may include:

  • Devising and implementing Social Skill programmes
  • Collaboration with allocated school SLT to monitor communication systems/strategies
  • Collaboration with allocated SLT to deliver communication related trainings
  • Curriculum differentiation addressing student’s language needs
  • Recommend and/or discuss potential new referrals to SLT Service in line with the Garratt Park School Advisory Service remit
  • Regular liaison with Highly Specialist SLT
