Kathryn Gorman - Speech & Language Therapist
Hi there, my name is Kathryn Gorman and I work as the Speech and Language Therapist for the Advisory Service within the Wandsworth Secondary schools. I am also a qualified teacher and I have worked both in the UK and in my home country of Australia in a wide range of clinical and educational settings.
I have been with the Advisory Service since January of this year, and have focused on forming links with teaching staff and SENCO’s to support students with significant social and communication skills difficulties. Support may be provided in the following ways:
· Advising school staff on strategies to aid the student in accessing the curriculum and integrating with their peers
· Providing information and resources which can be used by staff to develop the student’s communication skills
· Assisting staff in running small groups which focus on social and communication skills
· Providing formal training to staff
· Collaborating with staff in IEP target setting
· Attending Annual Review meetings
I look forward to strengthening the links between Speech and Language Therapy and Education in order to provide a more holistic approach to assisting students with communication difficulties within the classroom.

The Advisory Service is hoping to appoint a full-time Occupational Therapist who will be working in both Primary and Secondary teams.
